Getting there from Armenia
Until 2026 the Maldives always meant a connection. This winter Shirak Avia launches the first direct Yerevan–Malé flight (Boeing 737-800, Saturdays, from 14 November 2026), cutting the journey to about 7 hours. Qatar Airways via Doha and flydubai/Emirates via Dubai remain the daily alternatives, often cheaper mid-week.
From Malé airport, resorts are reached by speedboat (15–45 min, $100–250 per person round trip) or seaplane (25–60 min, $350–600) — we include the transfer in the price so there are no surprises.
Resort island or local island?
- Resort island: one hotel per island, private beaches, house reef, half board or All Inclusive — the classic honeymoon setting. $1,890–3,500 per person per week.
- Local island (Maafushi, Thulusdhoo, Dhigurah): guesthouses from $60–120 per night, public 'bikini beach', excursions to nearby resorts and sandbanks. A 7-day trip can cost $1,200–1,500 all in. Alcohol is not served; dress modestly in the village.
- Combination: 3 nights on a local island + 4 nights in a resort is the best value for first-time visitors.
